Industry Research
With the emergence of the local food industry in Oklahoma and its rising popularity among consumers, it is increasingly important to measure the historical and actual production levels of specialty crops, meats, and value added products throughout Oklahoma. Institutional purchasers, large scale food distributors, grocers and other wholesale and retail outlets are interested in utilizing healthy, locally produced food. However, without reliable data on which to base purchasing trends, the local foods industry will struggle to emerge as a consistent variable in the supply chain. To that end, the Oklahoma Farm and Food Alliance is dedicated to conducting research including:
- Historical production levels by State and County
- Current & Projected production levels by category at the State and County level
- Revenue generation from the local food industry in Oklahoma communities
- Economic Impact Analysis of the local food industry in Oklahoma communities
